PARADE OF TEARS: Sunday, April 18th, 3:00PM at the New Ohio Union (12th Ave and High St.)
Join others in this historic march for justice! The Parade of Tears is a unique march to protest the violation and dehumanization of women and children sold into forced prostitution each year in the state of Ohio. We will re-trace the historic underground railroad during this march while symbolically standing with those who suffer as victims of modern-day slavery.
Before the Parade:
- enlist others as modern day abolitionists
- raise funds to fight trafficking and help victims (optional)
- set a goal of raising $100
- educate ten people about human trafficking and ask them each to donate $10
- donations will be processed and receipted by InterVarsity Christian Fellowship – USA, but all funds received will go to IJM, Not for Sale, World Vision, Hagar International, and Gracehaven House
- donations can be made online at www.osupriceoflife.org
- checks should be made payable to IVCF-USA with “Price of Life” on the memo line
What to Bring:
- others who want to stand up as modern day abolitionists
- funds that you have raised beyond online donations (checks should be made payable to IVCF-USA with “Price of Life” on the memo line)
- You may want to make a sign to hang around your neck saying something like “PEOPLE ARE NOT FOR SALE” or “END SLAVERY NOW.”
Weather:
- The parade will go on, rain or shine.

Parking for the Parade of Tears:
- Ohio Union Garage (accessible from High Street or College Ave)
- Gateway Garage (75 E. 11th Ave)
When you arrive:
- go to the west side of the Ohio Union
- turn in money that you have raised
- get a free temporary tattoo of the bar code girl logo and apply it
- speakers will give specific instructions for the parade
- after the parade, there will be a rally featuring David Batstone, president of the Not for Sale Campaign
